Gastroenterology, CGH Debut Video Abstracts

Readers of Gastroenterology and Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology (CGH) can now watch authors of published articles discuss their papers in an engaging and convenient new format—video abstracts. The videos bring to life compelling details about the authors' research, including the motivation behind the studies and how the results contribute to our overall understanding of digestive disease.

The video abstracts are hosted on YouTube and linked directly from the Journals' Web sites. Users of YouTube can interact with the video abstracts in a variety of ways such as sharing them via email with colleagues, posting comments, organizing them into a collection of favorites, and subscribing to receive newly posted videos via RSS feeds.

The Journals' online editor, John F. Kuemmerle, MD, AGAF, professor of medicine and physiology at the Medical College of Virginia Campus, VCU, invites and encourages all authors of accepted papers to submit video abstracts to complement their original research manuscripts. To learn about what to include in your video abstract, watch Dr. Kuemmerle in his brief introductory video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Paa_uU51un8.

Dr. Kuemmerle is excited about this new online feature of the journals, stating "In a few minutes of video you can present the motivation behind the research contained in your article as well as some of your ideas on the topicdiscuss the history of your area of research and your ideas on where the field is heading. As an author, it is our desire that you use these video abstracts creatively as another way to communicate with your fellow physicians and researchers. As a viewer you have the opportunity to comment on the videos, provide your own perspective and ideas on the subject."

Watch this month's video abstracts now on the AGA's YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/AmerGastroAssn. Simply click on the Gastroenterology and CGH playlists to watch each journal's featured videos.
