When a child is overactive, inattentive, difficult at home, and failing in school, feelings run high. Media attention has centred on drug therapy, which is an anathema to some and a panacea to others. The international differences in approach to therapy, outlined in the seminar published in today's Lancet, amplify uncertainty about management.
